MAKING DIGITAL PERSONAL: INTERMEDIATE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (PH802)
Randy Richmond

M-F, June 9-13, 9am-2pm
Tuition: Member $365 / Non-Member $390
Intermediate
This class will introduce new possibilities for seeing the world through photography. Using the techniques of montage and collage, students will explore the inspiring natural environment of Door County, while using their digital camera as a sketchpad. These “sketches” will then be combined using imaging software to produce a singular and uniquely personal work of art. The tools of digital software, and computers will be used as a painter would use different brushes and NOT as an art making machine. Required: Digital camera, laptop computer with Photoshop Elements and basic understanding of its features.  Supply List

Iowa photographer Randy Richmond strives to make digital art natural and organic. He creates digital photographic compositions which he calls “places between places.” To do so, he uses a digital camera as a sketchpad and chooses actual objects that he scans and then separates from their backgrounds. He sometimes combines these objects and new imagery with photographic images that were created during his first 20 years as a photographer.

Our time together will refresh the mind, body, and creative spirit, and encourage connection to ourselves and to each other. This is a special opportunity to spend time with a photographer whose work is dedicated to helping women discover themselves in a creative environment. A 35mm SLR camera (with interchangeable lenses) is suggested for this class, but any kind of camera is welcome. Supply List
